SEGUIN, Texas – Seguin Fire Chief Dale Skinner has successfully completed the required coursework, and research projects, to graduate from the National Fire Academy’s Executive Fire Officer Program (EFOP).

The program was established in 1988 to provide fire officers with a larger perspective of the many different features of fire administration. Students must complete four courses: Executive Development, Executive Analysis of Community Risk Reduction, Executive Analysis of Fire Service Operations in Emergency Management and Executive Leadership. Within six months of finishing each course, students must incorporate what they’ve learned to their own communities as part of an Applied Research Project.

“I have a great sense of achievement. It’s a very competitive and rigorous program with an attrition rate of more than 50%. Achieving this gives me a sense of pride, professional development and will help me provide a better service to our citizens” said Skinner.
Skinner says there approximately 3,500 EFOP graduates in the entire country. He is one of about 260 in the state of Texas.
