Mayor Proclaims National Nutrition Month in Seguin
Proclamation Presented to San Marcos WIC

SEGUIN, Texas – Mayor Don Keil has proclaimed March as National Nutrition Month in Seguin. The proclamation was presented to the San Marcos Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) on March 11 at Seguin City Hall.

“I applaud the important efforts of WIC for assisting in providing good, well-balanced nutrition and education to those who may be at risk,” Mayor Keil said.

WIC provides federal grants to states for supplemental foods, health care referrals, and nutrition education for low-income pregnant, breastfeeding, and non-breastfeeding postpartum women, and to infants and children up to age five who are found to be at nutritional risk.

National Nutrition Month is a nutrition education and information campaign created annually in March by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. The campaign focuses attention on the importance of making informed food choices and developing sound eating and physical activity habits. The 2015 National Nutrition Month theme is "Bite into a Healthy Lifestyle."
