“This will be the third academy we’ve offered and participants in the previous courses gave rave reviews,” Fire Chief Dale Skinner said. “It’s an extremely informative experience that offers a lot of hands-on fun.”

The next 10-week academy begins on April 2. Topics are diverse and include the use of fire extinguishers, fire science, self-contained breathing apparatus, fire hose evolutions, fire investigations and much more. Many of the classes are hands-on, allowing participants to apply what they’re learning. There is an optional Saturday activity that includes CPR training. Persons attending the academy will also be given the opportunity to participate in ride out program to experience things first hand.
