Max Starcke Park Golf Course Ranks Among “Best of San Antonio”
AVIDGOLFER Hill Country Magazine Sings Praises for Seguin’s Municipal Course

SEGUIN, Texas – Max Starcke Park Golf Course is again being recognized among the best in the region by AVIDGOLFER Hill Country magazine. The publication ranks the course near the top of its lists of Top 5 Value Priced and Best Overall Value in its Best of San Antonio Golf 2014 issue.

“We are extremely proud that once again AVIDGOLFER magazine ranked Max Starcke Park Golf Course as one of the best in the region when compared to other courses in this area,” Assistant City Manager Rick Cortes said. “This ranking is indicative of all the hard work performed by everyone from the grounds crew, supervisors and the pros. We invite everyone to visit our course to confirm for themselves why the folks at AVIDGOLFER continue to rank us as one of the best in the region.”

AVIDGOLFER Hill Country ranks Max Starcke Park Golf Course third in the Top 5 Value Priced category. The category includes courses and clubs under $50. The magazine also ranks the City of Seguin operated course fifth in the region for Best Overall Value and 18 of 40 in its San Antonio Public Golf Rankings.

“Max Starcke Park Golf Course in Seguin sits on the Guadalupe River and despite raising its rates by a few bucks, it’s still one of the best values in the area,” AVIDGOLFER Hill Country wrote. “Throughout the year, the course was in great shape; it’s just a matter of time before more and more golfers realize how good of a place this is.”

AVIDGOLFER Hill Country magazine visited dozens of area course and clubs to compile the rankings. The magazine considered courses and clubs within a region stretching from Spring Branch and New Braunfels, east to Seguin and Floresville, south to Pleasanton and Devine, west to Hondo and Medina, circling north Kerrville and Fredericksburg. The publication visited the courses and clubs both announced and unannounced to consider everything, both on and off the course.

This isn’t the first time the publication has recognized Max Starcke Park Golf Course. AVIDGOLFER Hill Country ranked the course in the top five of the same two categories last year.

Max Starcke Park Golf Course is a regulation 18-hole course located on the north bank of the Guadalupe River and is filled with beautiful century-old pecan trees. The course was renovated in 2013 with re-sodded greens and the addition of senior tee boxes. Facilities include a pro-shop, driving range, and practice and putting greens. Carts can be rented and concessions are available. The weekday green fee is $20 and $16 for seniors. The daily weekend green fee is $23.
