Wave Pool Wraps Up Successful Season

SEGUIN, Texas – The City of Seguin Wave Pool is wrapping up the most successful season in recent memory. Although final numbers are not yet available, attendance is estimated to have increased 10% over last season.

“The Wave Pool underwent a significant makeover thanks to the Leadership Seguin group and the volunteer efforts of other organizations,” Seguin Parks and Recreation Director Jack Jones said. “The makeover generated excitement in the community and encouraged more people to visit the pool.”

The Seguin Area Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Seguin volunteers painted a beautiful wave mural on the back wall of the pool. The class painted hundreds of individual tiles to create the mural’s wave design. Leadership Seguin, along with Seguin Parks and Recreation staff, painted the buildings light blue. Leadership Seguin also purchased three new shade structures that now cover 20 picnic tables donated by Caterpillar.

The Navarro High School art class painted an abstract wave mural on the pool wall that faces the street. The paint for the murals was donated by the Seguin Sherwin-Williams store and Home Depot’s Team Depot.

“The facelift at the pool gave the place a whole new energy,” Jones continued. “We received countless compliments. All the credit goes to Leadership Seguin and the volunteers.”

The Wave Pool closed the 2014 season the weekend of August 16. The pool was originally scheduled to end the season on the weekend of August 23 but most of the lifeguard staff is returning to school and unable to work the extra week. Prescheduled private parties this week will continue as scheduled.
