Mayor proclaims Oct. 4th as National Night out in Seguin
SEGUIN, Texas - Mayor Don Keil has proclaimed Tuesday, October 4th, 2015 as the 33rd Annual National Night Out in Seguin. On this night, neighborhoods and streets host block parties to promote “police-community partnerships, neighborhood safety, awareness and cooperation” (From the NNO Proclamation).
“This year we expect 80 to 100 people. We really emphasize the kids with ‘Kids Night Out’ with movies and stuff for the kids. We cook out and have music playing. It’s really important to meet the newcomers in our neighborhood,” said Rodney Durst representing Roosevelt Street.
The Seguin Police Department block party representatives joined together at the new library Friday morning for the proclamation signing.
“Every year we see more and more neighborhoods stepping up to host a block party. This growing community involvement shows how our city is coming together in a real way,” said Keil.
The Seguin Police and Fire Departments will be making the rounds of neighborhood block parties Tuesday night. They will be meeting citizens and keeping them informed of how they can help keep their street and neighbor safe. ###
