Police: Shooting Victim’s Wound is Self-Inflicted
Subject Originally Claimed Robbery Outside Aumont Hotel

SEGUIN, Texas – After further investigation by the Seguin Police Department, it has been determined that the allegation of robbery in an early morning shooting is false.

“The victim suffered from a self-inflicted gunshot wound,” Seguin Police Lt. Eric Jimenez said. “The case is still being investigated. A charge of filing a false police report is possible at a later date.”

The victim, whose name is not yet being released, originally claimed he was shot during a robbery attempt at approximately 3:30 Friday morning. The incident occurred in the 300 block of North Austin Street.

At no time was there any danger to the public.
