Complete closure of N. Austin Street this weekend

SEGUIN, Texas – After months of delays, construction work on N. Austin Street (123 Business) will finally be getting underway. The TxDOT contractor plans to begin rolling out low profile barriers to close down the northbound lane starting the evening of February 3rd through the weekend until Monday, February 6th at 5:00 AM.

During this weekend period, the entire roadway will be closed to through traffic in both directions. After the barriers are installed, traffic will be limited to southbound traffic only.

The lane closure is part of the phase II work on the road reconstruction project that spans North Austin Street from the Railroad Tracks to IH-10. The northbound lane will be shut down from Martindale to Seidemann St. The south bound lane will remain open but local traffic may want to find alternate routes to get around this area. Heavy trucks must use Highway 46 and 123 bypass.

The project is expected to take eight months to complete. The intersections at Martindale, Rosemary, and Baxter Streets will remain open to allow for traffic in both directions (east/west).  However, Patton Drive and Roosevelt Drive will be closed at their intersection with N. Austin Street.

Businesses and residents in the affected area will received door hangar notifications of the lane closure. ###
