Myra Salinas recognized for helping create special night for local girls
SEGUIN, Texas – Myra Salinas has a really fun job working with the city’s Convention and Visitor’s Bureau. She’s a Tourism Assistant tasked with promoting the fun side of Seguin through creative marketing strategies. She also volunteers her time every year to make sure the DARE Cinderella Ball is THE place to be every June. That’s why she is was selected as the October 2017 Employee of the Month!
“Myra has led the food committee for the last four years… It is truly amazing to see how she is able to provide a formal sit-down dinner for 450 young ladies and their escorts,” wrote Deputy Police Chief Bruce Ure.
Ure nominated Salinas after watching her continued commitment to the event year after year.
“She truly goes above and beyond each year. We could not do our annual Cinderella Ball without people like Myra,” added Ure.
Salinas says volunteering for the ball means so much to her since the father/daughter dance “inspires hope, creates priceless memories, and helps fathers, male figures and daughters get together for a magical night out”.
She describes the event with such respect and admiration: “Imagine seeing a princess dancing the night away with her father. The giggles, the whispers, the twirls, and of course seeing them all dressed up in their best attire. Imagine the feeling of delivering a three course dinner to a smiling, grateful family. Imagine the joy of helping a father and a daughter have the best experience at the Ball. And a super bonus...I get to see this with my own husband, David and daughter, Sophia.”###
