Media Advisory: News Conference at 11 AM

SEGUIN, Texas – Late Tuesday night, at approximately 11:30 p.m., an armed robbery "in progress" was reported at the "Pic-n-Pac" at Highway 123 Bypass and IH-10. A lone male suspect entered the store, brandished a short barrel shotgun with a pistol grip and demanded cash from the two store clerks.

The clerks were able to flee and barricade themselves in a safe room and called 911. Seguin Police Department officers quickly responded, and arrived while the suspect was fleeing the scene on a motorcycle with a backpack.

Witnesses and officers observed the suspect put a shotgun inside a backpack. Seguin Police, Texas DPS Highway Patrol, and Guadalupe County Sheriff Deputies pursued the motorcycle until it stopped in Kingsbury, a small incorporated town just northeast of Seguin.

The suspect, then made threats against the officers, and refused numerous commands to put the backpack down. After several furtive movements, and in fear for their safety, the suspect was shot and pronounced deceased at the scene.

A media conference will be held at the Seguin Police Department at 350 N. Guadalupe, at 11:00 a.m. A more detailed media release will available shortly.
