2016 Artsfest ´creates' fun and excitement
“This takes color runs to a whole new level. Participants will become a piece of art when they finish the course,” said Kyle Kramm, Main Street Director and ArtsFest organizer.
The 5K course is about four laps around the trail, each one adding a layer of color and texture. Paint throws, bubbles, a jello slip-n-slide and finally feathers will be involved. Kids can get involved by entering the 1K. Runners can sign up for the 5K through http://www.athletesguild.com
In Central Park, the ArtsFest Market will offer unique hand-crafted treasures. The Seguin Art League is hosting kids’ activities to keep them busy while you shop. The market is open from 10 AM to 3 PM.
“The best part of the day is getting to see all of our local artists showcase their work in one place,” said Kramm.
From 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM, drop by Sebastopol House to check out historic Wilson Pottery and see live wool spinning demonstrations. Live performances can be enjoyed at Central Park and Court Street Coffee Shop throughout the day. The historic Magnolia Hotel is offering guided reenactment tours for $5.00 from 10 AM to 1 PM. Tour artwork from area students at the Guadalupe County Heritage Museum.
The day ends just as creatively as it began with CelebrARTE at the Texas Theatre. Tickets are $25 and include a night of live music, tons of local art, craft beer, and delicious food from the new Park Plaza Hotel Seguin.
ArtsFest would not be possible without the support of the generous sponsors, including Alligator Dental, TRC Engineering, CMC Steel Texas, Design & Associates, Niagara Bottling, GNC, Seguin Chevrolet, Guadalupe Regional Medical Center, the Chapman Law Firm, H-E-B, the Seguin Economic Development Corporation, and the Seguin Convention and Visitors Bureau. The program is cohosted by the Seguin Commission on the Arts and the Seguin Main Street Program. All proceeds from ArtsFest 2016 go to support public art in Seguin.
