Business Plan Competition

Downtown Seguin Business Plan Competition

The purpose of this business plan is to provide business ideas aligned for Seguin's downtown transformation through entrepreneurship and existing businesses. The selected winner will be awarded funds and assistance that will improve business and overall economic revitalization of downtown.

Eligibility

Competition is open to any and all inspiring entrepreneurs as well as existing business owners related to or interested in revitalization in the historic downtown district of Seguin.

Presentation of Business Plan Competition

This competition is a two-part series, to launch with:

  1. Written
    Expand on a formal business plan that includes sections on the general concept, marketing, financing, projections, and, leadership. Plan must be complete and submitted by November 19 to the Seguin Main Street office, located at 116 N Camp Street.
  2. Pitch
    Top scoring participants will then give a five-minute pitch opportunity to explain idea/project.

Timeline

  • November 19 - Business Plans Due
  • November 28 - Pitch and Judging and Winner Announcements.

Evaluation Criteria

The judges will evaluate your business plan as they would any business opportunity and take into consideration the ventures on which you plan to use your awarded funds. Judges will use a 100 Point Scale to evaluate plans and finalist presentations. Opportunity for extra points will be applied if plan includes arts or restaurant-related ideas.

Prizes are available for first and second-place winners. First place will receive $1,000 plus a consultation with a small business attorney and Certified Public Accountant. The second place winner will receive $500.
