The Historic Preservation & Design Commission is comprised of nine members appointed by the Mayor and approved by the City Council created to review all applications for building permits for work to the exterior of buildings, and all sign permits for properties located in the Downtown Historic District to ensure that the historic integrity of the district is retained. In addition, the commission reviews all applications for Local Historic Landmark designation. The commission meets as needed. All members shall be appointed for three-year terms and shall serve a maximum of two full terms.
