Mayor Donna Dodgen
Donna Dodgen was elected as Mayor of Seguin in November 2020. Prior to becoming Mayor, she served from 2012 to 2018 as Seguin City Council Member for District 7.
Mayor Dodgen was born and raised in a small town in South Texas and always knew she wanted to be involved in making a difference in her community. She graduated from the University of Texas at Austin and Our Lady of the Lake University.
A former downtown business owner, Mayor Dodgen has been actively involved in the Seguin community for over 30 years. She has served on the Seguin Schertz Local Government Corporation Board, Seguin Area Chamber of Commerce Board, was a member of the inaugural class of the Seguin Citizens Fire Academy, a graduate of the 2nd Leadership Seguin Class and is involved with the Seguin Police Academy Alumni Association. She also previously served as Zonta International District 10 Governor.
When she isn’t leading a city council meeting or attending numerous community events and activities, Mayor Dodgen works full-time at Post Acute Medical Specialty and Rehabilitation Hospital of Luling as clinical dietitian, director of dietary and corporate director of long-term acute care dietary services.
The Seguin mayor is elected at large by the citizens of Seguin and serves four-year terms, with a maximum limit of 2 terms. The mayor is the official head of the city's government, presides over City Council meetings and represents Seguin on ceremonial occasions. The mayor may debate and discuss any matters before the council but only votes in the event of a tie. The mayor may respond to resident concerns by appointing special committees to address particular issues. With the advice and consent of City Council, the mayor appoints members of citizen advisory boards and commissions.
