COVID-19/Coronavirus Updates

Following Governor Abbott's Executive Order and under the guidance of City management, the library will not reopen to the public on May 1st but will continue to offer limited services. This decision was made to ensure the health and safely of our patrons, employees, and the community. Based on Governor Abbott's plan, the library is deemed an interactive, educational space, designed for collaborative use, which makes social distancing extremely difficult to maintain. In addition, Governor Abbot has permitted reopening of libraries as long as services are provided at 25% occupancy. With the nationwide shortage of sanitation supplies, the Seguin Public Library is unable to sanitize the entire library space safely and adequately for library patrons.

Although the library is closed to the public, beginning April 13, 2020, we will be offering Curbside Pickup Service between 10:00 am and 2:00 pm, Monday through Saturday. Customers may browse materials and request holds through the online catalog at, by calling 830.401.2422 or by texting 830-549-4698.

In addition to Curbside Pickup, the library will open a small Laptop Lab in the Community Meeting Room for public use. To ensure proper social distancing, laptop sessions will be available by appointment only. Customers can make an appointment by calling 830-401-2422 beginning May 7th.
Lab hours will be 10:00 am - 2:00 pm, Monday through Saturday. To serve as many customers as possible, while ensuring adequate time to sanitize laptops after each session, appointments will be limited to one-hour sessions and a maximum of two sessions per week. As an added precaution, the library will have hand sanitizer available for patrons as they enter and exit the laptop lab. Staff will wear face masks when interacting with patrons, and customers are encouraged to do so, but are not required.

Following the CDC's recommendation, we have cancelled all library events and the use of ALL meeting spaces, including study rooms, to encourage social distancing until further notice.

Customers can check their accounts online and access all electronic resources. Contact the library by email at, by phone at 830.401.2422 or by text at 830.549.4698.
