TexShare Procedures During COVID-19

What our library is doing during COVID-19 (effective 8/17/20):
  • Usual policies are still in place - In order to apply, you must be over 16 years of age, a member with us for at least 3 months, and be in good standing (no fees or fines owed.)
  • If you are unable to come into the library to apply or update your card, you may request to apply by email, mail or curbside.
  • If you apply by email or mail, we will mail you your updated card. We are also able to provide your card through curbside.
According to the TexShare organization, during this time:
  • The TexShare program will continue on a voluntary basis on August 15, 2020. Not all libraries will be able to participate fully in the program by that date, nor are they required to do so. At this time, libraries may choose to issue cards but not accept cards.
  • Library lending policies have been removed from the TSLAC website as they are subject to change during COVID-19.
  • If you plan on updating your TexShare card at this time, please contact other libraries before visiting to determine policies, including whether or not they are accepting TexShare cards, offering in-library services, or requiring patrons to wear masks or face coverings.
What is TexShare?
TexShare is a cooperative program designed to improve library service to Texans. TexShare members include public libraries that belong to regional library systems, academic libraries, and libraries of clinical medicine. This cooperative enables libraries to offer a broader range of materials and services than any single library can provide for its constituents.

What are the TexShare Databases?
Licensed exclusively for patrons at TexShare libraries, these electronic reference resources offer authoritative, full-text articles from verifiable, subscription-only sources. Find e-Books, magazine articles, newspapers, and much more.

What is a TexShare Card?
With a TexShare Card, a library patron may directly borrow books, music, movies and more from any other participating TexShare library, just as if he or she were card-holder there. For more information check the Library's TexShare Card lending policy.
