Check out proposed changes to Connect Seguin route

SEGUIN, Texas – Citizens are invited to attend a public meeting being held on Wednesday, October 26th at 5:30 P.M. at City Hall Council Chambers. The meeting is a chance to learn about proposed changes to the current bus route and share feedback with city staff and AACOG representatives.

The proposed changes came about after the city became aware of inefficiencies in the route. Riders felt that buses were unreliable and did not arrive at designated stops in a timely manner. Staff feels the new route is much easier to understand and will make it easier for folks to use the system to get where they need to go.

“We are always looking to increase ridership, when talking to riders we found they were concerned with the punctuality of the Connect Seguin bus and they were hesitant to use the service when going to appointments or work. In order to keep and grow our ridership, we took a look at the existing route, and determined how we could decrease the length to address reliability, while servicing additional areas,” said Jennifer Gauna, Assistant to the Assistant City Manager.

Alamo Area Council of Governments operates the Connect Seguin bus route and feels the new route will allow drivers to get through the entire “loop” in an hour. The revised route also allows riders to access the new library and Park West.

“The proposed bus route will be a continuous loop, doing what its name implies, connecting Seguin citizens to widely used areas in town,” added Gauna.

If you plan to attend the public meeting, you will be able to view the existing bus route map and compare it to the proposed new route. Meeting facilitators will be gathering input on the proposed changes.

All of the feedback recorded at the meeting will be processed and reported to City Council who will ultimately make any decisions on changing the Connect Seguin bus route.
