Water and Wastewater Plants End 2014 Without Violations
Results Reinforce Seguin’s Superior Water Quality

SEGUIN, Texas – Imagine regulators requiring the testing of tens of thousands of samples of your work with the goal of finding something that’s not quite up to par. For the staff at the City of Seguin water and wastewater plants, that’s reality. The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality wrapped up inspections last year without issuing a single violation

“We are extremely proud of the hard-working and dedicated staff at the three plants,” Water/Wastewater Director Emery Gallagher said. “This reinforces the superior quality of our water and should be a point of pride not only for our staff but the community as well.”

TCEQ required nearly 34,000 samples to be tested to ensure the facilities were meeting standards. When certain violations are discovered, municipalities must report them to the public. No such violation reports were required in Seguin.

Each and every member of the staff at the plants holds at least one TCEQ certification. That’s something else many cities can’t claim.

The City of Seguin Water and Wastewater Utilities provide many of the basic services that affect the daily lives of everyone who lives and works in Seguin. This includes the production and distribution of more than four billion gallons of water per year and the treatment of over 1.4 billion gallons of wastewater per year. It also includes the maintenance of 120 miles of distribution lines, 768 fire hydrates and 23 lift stations with 139 miles of collection lines. The city operates one water treatment plant and two wastewater treatment plants.
