CenterPoint Energy Relocating Gas Line Along Seidemann Street

SEGUIN, Texas – CenterPoint Energy contract crews will soon begin replacing natural gas mains and service lines along a portion of Seidemann Street. CenterPoint Energy’s work will begin Monday, November 24 and last approximately three weeks. Customers along Seidemann Street between Camp and Hays Streets as well as a small portion of Hays Street will be affected.

The majority of the work will take place along one half of the street in order to keep the other half open. There may be times when the street is closed but the City of Seguin has requested that one lane remain open during peak traffic periods. Detours signs will be placed in the area as needed. As normal in construction areas, drivers should obey signs and exercise caution.

This work will require natural gas service to be briefly interrupted when the gas meters are moved from the old line to the new connections. CenterPoint Energy contract crews have gone door to door to notify affected customers prior to construction. If contract crews were unable to make contact with a homeowner, a door hanger was left with notification of when work will commence. The door hanger contains a toll-free number (1-800-752-8036) that customers can call to have a Centerpoint Energy Service technician come out to turn the gas meter on and relight appliances when needed.

The work is necessary ahead of the Texas Department of Transportation’s SH 123 Business reconstruction project. The project includes a new storm drainage system, lowering of the existing street profile (elevation,) widening for a continuous center turn lane, utility replacement, sidewalk and bicycle amenities. Construction on the project is anticipated to begin in late 2015.
