Fall Clean-Up Day Yields Big Results
Trash, Metal and Paper Collection Surpasses Previous Event

SEGUIN, Texas – The amount of trash, metal and paper collected during the City of Seguin’s most recent clean-up day surpassed that of the most recent event. Fall Clean-Up Day on October 18 yielded 50.06 tons of trash and metal, 6,383 pounds of paper and 624 junk tires.

“We are very pleased with these results,” Seguin Public Information Officer Scott Packard said. “We do these clean-up events twice yearly and we’re happy that residents are showing up and taking advantage.”

Progressive Waste Solutions provided trash collection service. Shred It provided a mobile paper shredder for residents to dispose of sensitive documents. Tires were collected by Earth Energy Tire Recycling. Collection of unwanted items was free for Seguin residents. Several City of Seguin employees volunteered to assist residents unload vehicles and trailers.

The preceding clean-up event, Spring Clean-Up Day, collected a total of 24.9 tons of trash and metal, 4,000 pounds of paper and 859 junk tires. The next clean-up event is scheduled for March 7, 2015. Details will be released closer to the event.
