New I-10 Frontage Road Nears Opening
I-10 Access Road Connects SH 40 and FM 464

SEGUIN, Texas – Weather permitting, the new frontage road that connects SH 46 to FM 464 on Seguin’s northwest side may open to traffic on the afternoon of Friday, July 18. The City of Seguin urges drivers to exercise caution as they become familiar with traffic flow.

“Construction has restricted the frontage road to one-way for a significant amount of time,” Seguin City Engineer Joe Ramos said. “Now that we will be reinstating two-way traffic on both ends of the project, we want to make sure the public is aware of the change.”

The new I-10 frontage road is primarily one-way – westbound – but features a two-way frontage road between Friesenhahn Road and Hwy 46 and along a stretch just east of FM 464.

“Paving is finished and striping is what remains,” Ramos continued. “The contractor says striping is a two-day job. If the rain holds off, striping will take place Thursday and Friday and the road will tentatively open Friday afternoon.”

The $4.7 million access road project is funded through a partnership between the City of Seguin ($1.25 million), Seguin Economic Development Corporation ($1.25 million) and New Quest Properties ($2.2 million.) The road will provide access to the 545-acre site owned by New Quest Properties. This critical infrastructure is anticipated to create a significant positive impact for the City of Seguin. The frontage road is a vital component to attract retailers, restaurants and development to Seguin.

The City of Seguin, SEDC and New Quest will announce plans for a ribbon-cutting ceremony at a later date.
