Man Arrested for Possession of Large Quantity of Heroin
Anonymous Tip Leads to Search Warrant

SEGUIN, Texas – The Seguin Police Department has arrested a man who was in possession of a large quantity of heroin. Joseph Hernandez is charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana.

Seguin narcotics detectives received an anonymous tip about drugs in a residence in the 600 block of Bowie Street. Detectives executed a search warrant on Tuesday, April 22. During the search, 28.92 grams of heroin was located in a plastic bag. An additional 5.03 grams was discovered in six balloons. The estimated street value for the total 33.95 grams of heroin is $3,100. A small amount of marijuana was also located at the residence.

“The heroine in the balloons appears to have been packaged for sale,” Seguin Police Sgt. James Springer said. “We’re happy to be able to get this large quantity of narcotics off the streets.”

Hernandez was booked into the Guadalupe County Jail. He is charged with possession of marijuana and possession of a controlled substance. Hernandez’s bond status was not available as of Wednesday afternoon.
