Chili Cook-Off to Attract Hundreds to Seguin
Texas Ladies State Chili Championship Celebrates 44th Anniversary

SEGUIN, Texas – When it comes to great chili, you’d be hard-pressed to find any better than what will be served during the 44th Texas Ladies State Chili Championship in Seguin on April 12th.

More than 200 ladies will fire up their stoves at Max Starcke Park and compete for the championship. The aroma of delicious chili will be in the air as the public enjoys festivities that begin at 9am. There will be music, games, crafts, food vendors, a silent auction and kids’ activities. Young ladies ages 7-17 will compete in the 3rd Little Miss Ladies State Championship. Attendees will also be able to purchase a bowl of Texas Ladies’ Chili from Boy Scout Troop 107.

“This is always a very popular event that brings hundreds of people from across the state to Seguin,” Seguin Convention and Visitors Bureau Director Jillian Boldway said. “We know those who come this year will enjoy the festivities and the top-notch chili.”

Chili turn-in begins at 12:30pm and judging promptly follows. Judges are still needed. If you’re interested in tasting 10-12 chilies and are 18 or older, you may sign up to judge. Beverages and condiments will be provided for a pleasant judging experience.

During last year’s event, Seguin Mayor Don Keil dedicated the Patricia Irvine King Pavilion. King was executive director of the Ladies State Chili Championship for more than 20 years.
