City of Seguin Officials Brush Up on Hotel Occupancy Tax Law
Seminar Offered Participates Expert Advice

SEGUIN, Texas – In an effort to become better educated on hotel occupancy tax distribution and usage, several City of Seguin officials and organizations attended a workshop Wednesday, February 26, 2014.

“I was so happy that most organizations receiving hotel occupancy tax sent one or more representatives to learn the rules about the distributions,” Seguin Hotel Occupancy Tax Committee member and District 2 Councilmember Jet Crabb said. “It shows they are interested in gaining an understanding of what it takes to qualify for the money. I applaud their diligence."

Scott Joslove, President and CEO of the Texas Hotel and Lodging Association, led the seminar and took questions from those in attendance.

Of the ten organizations that receive funding from Seguin’s hotel occupancy tax, eight were represented at the seminar. At least one representative from the Seguin Conservation Society, Mid-Texas Symphony, Teatro de Artes, Seguin Heritage Museum, Seguin LULAC, Seguin Area Chamber of Commerce, Seguin Art League and Fields of Huber Ranch were in attendance.
