Discover a REAL Seguin experience at our new library

SEGUIN, Texas – In just a few days, the community will finally get to experience what it’s like inside our new library! We can’t wait to see everyone’s reaction as they discover the news books, technology and programs we plan to offer. Please join us for a VERY SPECIAL Grand Opening/Ribbon Cutting on Thursday, September 8th at 5:30 P.M.

Expect three days of fun to celebrate the future of reading and technology in Seguin including a mobile planetarium to study space and live music. See schedule below.

Thursday, September 8th:

5:30 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.

  • Dedication 
  • Presentation of the American Flag (Woodmen of the World)
  • Speeches
  • Ribbon cutting

6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.

  • Refreshments served in community meeting room and on 1st floor deck
  • MidTexas Symphony – 2 Violins and 1 Cellist

6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.

  • Self-guided tours
  • Craft activities for teens in teen room

6:15 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.

  • Story hour in children’s program room
  •  Kids crafts

Friday, September 9th:

9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

  • Self-guided tours

3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.

  • Discovery Dome - Embark on an adventure into outer space—right inside the library. The Texas Museum of Science and Technology will bring an inflatable mobile planetarium for young learners to explore the stars, constellations and planets visible in the sky.

Saturday, September 10th:

9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

  • Fun activities throughout the library
  • Self-guided tours

1:00 p.m. – 1:45 p.m.

  • Matt Sandbank’s Shadow Factory - Matt Sandbank's Shadow Factory performs shadow puppet shows that enliven the imagination and awaken a sense of wonder in audiences of all ages. Each of Matt's programs features uniquely expressive shadow puppets, and provides a rollicking good time for all!

2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.

  • Dirty River Dixie Band - Read, relax and enjoy great jazz music
