Deputy Police Chief Bruce Ure to lead Holiday Stroll Parade

SEGUIN, Texas – Hometown hero Deputy Police Chief Bruce Ure will lead the Holiday Stroll Parade as the Grand Marshal.  Mayor Don Keil chose Ure after hearing about his life-saving actions during the Las Vegas shooting last month. Ure and his wife, Valarie, will ride with the Mayor and his wife on a horse drawn carriage at the front of the parade.

"Bruce is a true home-town hero.  Throughout the mass-shooting disaster in Las Vegas, he kept his cool and acted like the true public guardian he is.  Risking his own life, he took it upon himself to usher others to safety, and then directly save the lives of 2 severely wounded victims.  Heroes like Bruce are few and far between, and should be honored every way possible. Having him as parade grand marshal is just one small way we can show our recognition and sincere appreciation for this great home-town hero," said Keil.

The parade rolls on Thursday, November 30th at 6:30 PM and kicks off two nights of holiday fun in downtown Seguin. After the parade, the community is invited to gather in Central Park for the annual tree lighting. The mayor will also announce the winners of the parade and the Christmas Tree Decorating Contest. You can also check out our vendors, take a photo with Santa and listen to festive music by the Seguin High School band.
