SEGUIN, Texas – A new year provides a perfect starting point for new goals.  Let the Seguin Public Library help you keep those New Year resolutions!

If your aspiration is to read more this year, then we have you covered.  Did you know that the average American reads 12 books a year?  We can help you reach your reading objectives. At the Library, we have plenty of great reading options.  Don’t know what to read? Get custom reading guides created by librarians with suggested author and titles you might enjoy.  This year is also an opportune time to try reading in a form that's new to you—e-books and e-audiobooks using mobile devices.  Fill up your tablet or digital device and never be without your favorite Library resources.  You can choose from Overdrive, RBdigital and cloudLibrary.  cloudLibrary now provides access to 86,000 downloadable titles.  You also have access to 2,700 newspapers online with Newsbank.

Are you trying to learn something new? For those interested in genealogy, the Library will host on January 20, its second Interactive Genealogy Group workshop.  The topic for this session is “They’re coming out of the woodwork! Missing heirs in your family genealogy.”  Are you trying to eat healthy and save money? We have you covered, our partnership with Guadalupe County’s Texas A&M Agri Life Extension continues with the return of the Fresh Start to a Healthier You classes beginning January 8. In February, we will continue with Eat Smart.  If you're a student and want to ace your classes, get homework help with Brainfuse where you can interface with a tutor.

Whether you're itching to learn Italian or dying to learn Dutch, you can master a foreign language using Mango Languages and Pronunciator.  You can even become fluent in Pirate language with Mango. To provide customers with a venue to practice their language skills, the Library offers the French and Spanish Clubs.

If your aim is to be more social and meet new people, the Library has a variety of children, teen and adult events every month that would help you work on this goal.  Plan on attending a meeting of the Book Nuts Book Club, participate in the Adult Coloring Club or checkout the Friends of the Library programs.  Attending these events is an opportunity to meet new faces and make new friends.  For children, we have added new Toddler and Storytime sessions.  Check the Library’s calendar at for more information about all our programs.

Hopefully, you already have a Library card. If you don't have a card... get on it! And while you're at it, get someone else to sign up with you. Guadalupe County residents can apply for a library card free of charge. The benefits of having a card are endless! Free resources at your fingertips!

No matter what you hope to achieve in 2018, the Library is always here to support you and keep you motivated–and these resources are free. Happy New Year! ###
