Strempel Road closed for duration of construction project
SEGUIN – The city’s contractor has started work on a major reconstruction project on Strempel Road. The project includes drainage, water, sanitary sewer and street improvements between State Highway 123 Business and 123 Bypass. The roadway will be shut down during the course of the work.
“By closing the road, the contractor will be able to work more quickly and under safer conditions since they won’t have to deal with traffic and flaggers,” said Morgan Ash, Public Information Officer.
The project will be a total reconstruction of the roadway with the total project cost being $2.1 million. The amount of traffic utilizing the roadway is only expected to increase due to future development of land on the north side of the roadway, and drivers using it as a crossover between 123 Business and 123 Bypass.
Drivers are asked to be patient during the construction phase, and to follow all traffic signs in the area. The project is expected to take a year to complete. ###
