Library staffer recognized for creativity and unwavering enthusiasm
SEGUIN, Texas – Erica Reyes received the February 2018 Employee of the Month Award for her “leadership, creativity, motivation and unending supply of energy” when planning several large events at the Seguin Public Library. Reyes is the Library Assistant and Social Media Specialist for the library.
“I enjoy all aspects of event planning, but I would have to say my favorite part is everyone enjoying themselves at library events. The biggest challenge is making sure we have activities that interest people of all ages in a library setting,” said Reyes.
Despite having an already large workload, Reyes volunteered to coordinate the library’s ‘We’re Turning 1 and Planning Some Real Fun’ event last fall. She worked with the Economic Development team to include their ongoing ‘Read Local. Shop Seguin Businesses Showcase during the event. She helped local businesses set up booths so they could promote themselves during the celebration.
“Erica arranged for a performance by Teatro de Artes de Juan Seguin… and coordinated with the Seguin Brewing Company to provide samples of their handcrafted beers,” said Jacki Gross, Library Director.
She also successfully promoted the event by handing out flyers around town and posting to numerous social media accounts. Due to her efforts, 500 people attended the event, and had a great time. ###
