Downtown Business Owners Named Outstanding Contributor to the Arts

Seguin, TX – At the annual ArtsFest on March 3, the Seguin Commission on the Arts named Dr. Henry H. Moore as the 2018 Outstanding Contributor to the Arts for his devotion to promote and bring the arts to Seguin over the last five decades. The award was presented by Mayor Don Keil on Saturday evening at the Texas Theatre at ArtsFest’s evening reception, CelebARTe –putting the ART in celebrating.

Five nominations were received for the 2018 Outstanding Contributor for the Arts and the nominees included TLU Community Music Academy, Kathy Nossaman, Dr. Henry Moore, Liz Romero and Aesop Cardenas.  The Commission on the Arts selected Dr. Moore due to his contributions to the arts in Seguin.

Dr. Moore has been a supporter of the arts in Seguin since the 1960’s.  He was an active member in the One Seguin Arts in the 1970’s and has been an active member of the Seguin Art League since 2007.  Dr. Moore is a talented artist bringing unique pieces to all the Seguin Art League exhibits and was a featured speaker at the inaugural Veteran’s Visual Art Exhibit in 2017.

Dr. Moore was influential in the Seguin Art League’s purchase of 104 South Austin Street and has served on the building’s renovation committee since the purchase in 2014.  Dr. Moore’s vision is to bring a world class gallery to downtown Seguin and he has assisted in the removal of asbestos, roof repairs and selecting a design and construction management team for the project.  The League would not be as far along in the project if it were not for Dr. Moore’s contributions.

For his more than 50 years of supporting the arts in Seguin and being a visionary in bringing an art gallery and education center to Seguin, the Seguin Commission on the Arts is proud to present the 2018 Outstanding Contributor to the Arts award to Dr. Henry Moore.

The Seguin Commission on the Arts, appointed by the Seguin City Council, works to promote local artists and art venues and support public art opportunities in Seguin. The Commission sponsors the annual ArtsFest, hosts art competitions, and calls for artists to produce public art for the community.

Congratulations Dr. Moore!
