Helena Perez recognized for stepping in when needed
SEGUIN, Texas – Parks and Recreation Administrative Assistant Helena Perez has worked for the City of Seguin for almost thirty years. Her continued dedication to the city and its residents is being recognized. On Tuesday, she was surprised with the Employee of the Month Award for April 2018.
“I was reminded today of how special it is to be a part of a family with the City of Seguin and the Parks & Recreation Department. Like all things in every family we have ups and downs, but we are certainly there for each other in every aspect of our jobs,” said Perez.
Recently, Perez stepped in after a vacancy occurred at the Seguin Events Complex. In addition to her regular duties, Helena took over handling rental contracts and customer inquiries at the complex – basically anything needed to keep the coliseum and other facilities running smoothly.
“This included figuring out the needs of facility renters such as layouts, attendance, security and concessions. She also worked with the Finance Department on setting up client accounts, issuing deposit refunds and customer billing,” said Jack Jones, Director of Parks and Recreation.
Perez also volunteered to work late on a Friday so that a wedding planner could have extra time to set-up for a wedding the next day at the coliseum. She always made sure clients had a direct way of communicating with her to ensure the success of their event.
When a new Events Coordinator was hired, Helena carefully trained her so that there would be a smooth transition. She continues to check in with the new coordinator daily to make sure all questions are answered. ###
