Limits placed on tires, paper for Clean-up Day
SEGUIN, Texas – The city’s annual Fall Clean-up Day is set for Saturday, September 29th from 8 am – noon at the Seguin Events Complex. Participants need to be aware of two changes limiting the number of tires and bags of paper for shredding that will be accepted at the event.
City Council approved a measure limiting the amount of vehicle tires that can be dropped off to ten. Only city residents’ tires will be accepted, commercial tire businesses will still not be allowed to use Clean-up Day to dispose of their tires. Also, residents will be limited to three (50 gallon) bags of paper for the shredding service.
“We want folks to continue taking advantage of this service. These changes will help ensure that the city can serve more people before filling up the shredder truck and the tire truck. Because once they’re full, we must stop accepting them,” said Morgan Ash, Public Information Officer.
Also new this time, drivers will enter and exit differently. Vehicles will enter the complex on Nelda Street and exit S. Austin Street.
Seguin residents are encouraged to bring unwanted items from around the home for free disposal at the Seguin Events Complex (Coliseum) parking lot. Participants must show a photo ID or utility bill to prove they reside within city limits. City employees and Waste Connections personnel will be available to assist residents unloading vehicles and trailers.
Brush, hazardous chemicals, construction or building debris, old fences, sheds or torn down building materials will not be accepted. Appliances with Freon or other refrigerants are not allowed. ###
