City rolls out "Roll Up Seguin" program to help our neighbors
SEGUIN, Texas – “Roll Up Seguin” is coming to a utility bill near you. City Council has approved the program that aims at giving our neighbors assistance in paying their utility bills when they really need some help. The city will work with the Community Council of South Central Texas (CCSCT) in identifying eligible customers.
The program will operate like Guadalupe Valley Electric Cooperative (GVEC)’s and Floresville Electric Power & Light. City of Seguin utility customers’ bills will be rounded up to the nearest dollar and the excess will be applied to a fund for CCSCT to distribute. Assistance will be given to eligible City of Seguin utility customers with a focus on the elderly, persons with disabilities and/or families with young children who live at or below the poverty level.
“A utility customer will pay between one and ninety-nine cents more per month or a maximum of $11.88 per year. Most will pay much less, but if everyone gives it will add up quickly. We can help a lot of people in our community who really need it,” said Morgan Ash, Public Information Officer.
City of Seguin utility customers can opt out of the program at any time by calling utility 830-401-2460 opt. 1 or you can email firstname.lastname@example.org. However, we hope that everyone sees this as a convenient opportunity to help our neighbors and fellow citizens. ###
