City of Seguin Hires New Public Information Officer

SEGUIN, Texas – Douglas Faseler, City Manager is pleased to announce that Jennifer Sourdellia has been hired as the City’s new Public Information Officer (PIO). Her first day with the City of Seguin was December 10. She assumes the position following the departure of previous PIO Morgan Ash, who recently moved with her family to Las Vegas, Nevada.

In her role as Public Information Officer, Sourdellia will be responsible for managing, planning, organizing and directing the city's information and public communications programs. She will also serve as a liaison between the city and the news media.

Sourdellia comes to the City of Seguin with an extensive background in communications, public relations and marketing, including 8 years of experience in municipal government. Sourdellia most recently worked in the Communications/Public Information Office at the City of Victoria where she helped manage media relations, the City’s website and social media presence, developed communications plans, coordinated a Citizens Academy and served as a key member of the City’s emergency communications team during Hurricane Harvey.

In 2014, Sourdellia became one of the very first municipal government communicators in the State of Texas to earn designation as a Certified Public Communicator (CPC) after completing a specialized certification program at Texas Christian University. She also has a Bachelor of Science degree in Communications from the University of Houston-Victoria.

“This is a tremendous opportunity and I am excited to work alongside the quality individuals who make up the staff at the City of Seguin,” said Sourdellia. “I look forward to meeting city residents and employees, and informing the community about the City’s daily efforts and programs that make Seguin a great place to live, work and visit,” she said.
