Assistant Police Chief Selected
SEGUIN, Texas - Jaime “Rusty” Suarez, a 13-year police veteran and current Operations Division Captain for
the Department has been selected as the next Assistant Chief of Police. He assumed the Assistant Chief duties on June 16, 2019.
Chief Suarez was promoted to the position through a selection process after the former Deputy Chief retired in November of 2018.
Chief Suarez began his law enforcement career in 2006 with the Bandera County Sheriff’s Office. In February of 2007, Suarez joined the Seguin Police Department where he has served in many positions including Patrol, K-9 Officer, Narcotics, SWAT, Criminal Investigations, Patrol Corporal, Patrol Sergeant, Lieutenant and
Captain during his career.
Chief Suarez holds a master’s degree in Education from Texas State University and a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology from Texas Lutheran University.
“The interview selection process was challenging involving outside law enforcement executives and City management. We interviewed four great candidates and the consensus was that Chief Suarez was best suited for the needs of the Department at this time. Chief Suarez has served our community honorably for 13 years and will continue to bring a wealth of experience and proven leadership to the Seguin Police Department,” said Chief Terry Nichols.
