Wave pool opens Memorial Day weekend

SEGUIN, Texas – We’re just days away from a summer full of fun in the sun. Parks & Recreation staff are preparing to open the Wave Pool in Max Starcke Park East in time for the Memorial Day Weekend. It will be a chance to enjoy the pool before it officially opens for the summer season a week later (Saturday, June 4th).

“We’re so excited to get the summer started at the Wave Pool, but we want to make sure everyone is aware of a few changes to the rules. This year, you must wear appropriate swimwear at the pool. No street clothes are allowed in the water – like jeans or tennis shoes or sweatpants,” said Crystal Miranda, Asst. Parks Director.

The Wave Pool will be open Tuesday through Sunday from 1 to 7 P.M. After 4 P.M., admission is cut in half to $2 for kids and $2.50 for adults. Groups of ten or more who come in before 4 P.M. will get half off the cost of their ticket.

If you are looking for a summer job, why not work at the coolest place in town? The city is still looking for lifeguards to keep the pool safe.

“If you’re looking for a fun summer job – contact the city’s Human Resources Department. We’re looking for a few more reliable individuals to be a part of the lifeguard staff,” said Jack Jones, Parks Director.

Remember, children under 12 years old must be accompanied by an adult. No pets, alcohol or smoking are allowed in the Wave Pool complex. Free tubes, lockers and life jackets are available (first come, first serve).

Don’t forget to register your kids for affordable swim lessons – just $35 for 8 classes. Water aerobics is only $2 a class on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Please call the Parks department at (830) 401-2480 if you have any questions. ###
