Walk with a Naturalist at Park West Every Tuesday from March to April
SEGUIN, Texas – The City of Seguin Parks and Recreation Department is partnering with the Guadalupe Master Naturalists to offer “Walk with a Naturalist,” a nine-week program for adults. The program occurs from 9 to 10 AM every Tuesday from March 3 through April 28 at Park West, 601 N. Vaughan Ave., in Seguin. The free, one-hour walking program will cover nearly a mile at a leisurely pace.
The community is invited to enjoy health benefits of the weekly walks while Naturalists share the history of the park, highlight the park’s natural resources and review recent efforts to improve the forest health.
"Master Naturalists are volunteers trained by Texas Parks and Wildlife and Texas A&M Agri-Life Extension Service to teach people about nature," said chapter president Tom Hardaway.
Local naturalists have made a long-term commitment to improve the health of the forest at Park West by removing invasive plants and using the Pollinator Garden in Park West as a monarch butterfly monitoring site.
Beginning March 3, a naturalist will meet walkers at the Park’s Splash Pad every Tuesday at 9 am through the month of April. Restrooms and a drinking fountain are available. Appropriate footwear for hiking is recommended. Reservations are not required. All adults are welcome to attend.
