Seguin City Council Meetings Going Virtual
SEGUIN, Texas – In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, and in order to practice social distancing, all Seguin City Council meetings are going virtual until further notice.
The next regular City Council meeting on Tuesday, April 7, is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. and will be broadcast via Facebook Live video on the City’s Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/SeguinTX/
“The virtual City Council meeting is open to the public and can be watched via live stream on the City’s Facebook page,” said the City’s Public Information Officer Jennifer Sourdellia.
“City Hall and the Council Chambers will only be available to City staff and/or Council members during the meeting. The number of individuals allowed inside the meeting will be within the limit of 10 or less. Some members of City Council will be remotely participating in the meeting from home,” she said.
Opportunities for citizen comment will still take place at the beginning of the meeting. For the citizen comments section of the meeting, the public is asked to email any comments no later than 3 pm on Tuesday, April 7, 2020 to email@example.com.
Normal rules for public comment apply, so please include your name and address in your email.
Action Items & Public Hearings
Citizens who would like to speak regarding action items on the meeting agenda, and also during the public hearing portions of the meeting, must submit requests in writing via email no later than 3 pm on Tuesday, April 7, 2020 to firstname.lastname@example.org. In the written request, citizens must specify the item on the meeting agenda to which they want to speak. Participants will receive a Zoom meeting invitation, and a meeting ID number to enter when joining the meeting, as well as participant instructions.
Public participants will be automatically muted until it is their turn to speak.
“The Zoom platform is free for the public and can be accessed via a computer, laptop, tablet or a phone” said Sourdellia.
