City Launches Texting Platform for Citizens to Find Information and Report Issues 24/7
SEGUIN, Texas –Seguin residents with questions about city services or an issue to report now have a new tool for connecting with city officials. The City of Seguin has launched "Text MyGov,” a citizen-to-city communication platform that will help guide residents to resources and report potential issues.
Using TextMyGov, citizens can get immediate answers to questions, find links to information on the city’s website, report issues and more - all via text messaging.
"This new texting tool opens up communication by allowing residents to easily access information and engage with local government,” said Jennifer Sourdellia, Public Information Officer at the City of Seguin. “TextMyGov uses your cell phone's regular text messaging service to relay information to the City by using keywords (such as street, sewer, water, library, events, permits, utility, employment, etc.)”
Sourdellia went on to say “Because texting is the most common and preferred method of communication, citizens can easily alert the City about issues (such as potholes, code violations, traffic signal outages or missed trash pickups) and quickly find the information they are looking for by using this interactive platform. There are no app downloads required to access TextMyGov. Just text "Hi" or one of the above keywords to 830-800-8002 at any time, 24/7, and TextMyGov will assist you," she said.
TextMyGov also gives citizens an option to receive notifications from the City, such as emergency information, road closures, weather-related information, power/water outages and more. They can opt-out at any time. Message and data rates may apply.
