SEGUIN, Texas – The City of Seguin is proud to announce that five Electric Utilities Department employees recently earned advanced certifications and completed apprentice programs.

Miguel Rangel recently completed the Level III Electrical Line Worker Program at Northwest Lineman College.

Ethan Courtney, Electric Utilities Crew Leader, recently completed the Advanced Lineman Merchant Powerline Job Training and Safety Program. As a prerequisite for the advanced-level training, Courtney also completed a 4-year Power Line Job Training and Safety Program.

Apprentice Linemen Madison Battise and Matthew Rodriguez have successfully completed  the Merchant Job Training and Safety Program Level II Apprentice program to become Level III Apprentice Line Workers. This comprehensive training program for powerline personnel exceeds the U.S. Department of Labor Office of Apprenticeship minimum requirements of 144 hours of related instruction per year.

Coursework is structured so that the linemen can study at their own pace when it is convenient for them. Employees move through the training process according to rules set by the MJTS program and statewide association and are required to take exams along the way.
