Seguin Mayor Signs Emergency Disaster Declaration

SEGUIN, Texas --  Mayor Donna Dodgen has signed a Declaration of Local Disaster due to a Winter Weather Emergency for the City of Seguin, joining the State of Texas and Guadalupe County in issuing similar declarations.

The severe winter weather poses an imminent threat of widespread and severe property damage, injury, and loss of life due to prolonged freezing temperatures, heavy snow, and freezing rain statewide. Seguin has already seen extremely cold temperatures, dangerous road conditions, several inches of snow, and power outages. Mayor Dodgen urges residents to remain home if they can, to seek shelter, avoid driving if possible, and to take all cautionary measures to ensure the safety of all persons and animals in their care.

The declaration activates the City of Seguin Emergency Management Plan. It goes into effect immediately for a period of not longer than seven days unless it is continued or renewed by the City Council.
