Garrick Herbert Sworn-In as Assistant Chief of the Seguin Fire Department

SEGUIN, Texas – Garrick Herbert, a 26-year veteran of municipal fire service, was sworn-in Monday morning, April 5th as the first ever Assistant Fire Chief for the Seguin Fire Department. Chief Herbert will serve alongside Fire Chief Dale Skinner.

Prior joining the Seguin Fire Department, Chief Herbert worked for the New Braunfels Fire Department where he served in a myriad of roles. He left the New Braunfels Fire Department as Battalion Chief of Support Services where he oversaw the response to COVID, department training and EMS.

Throughout his career, Chief Herbert has served in both the Operations and Training/Support Services divisions of the fire department

Chief Herbert earned a Bachelor’s degree in Organizational Leadership from Texas A&M Commerce and an Associate’s Degree in Fire Science.  He is a Master Firefighter and Fire Officer IV, and also attended Fire Service Chief Executive Officer (FSCEO) training.

“I am extremely excited to have Garrick Herbert join the Seguin Fire Department in this key leadership role,” said Chief Skinner. “With more than 25 years of experience in fire service, he brings a tremendous amount of wisdom and knowledge to our team. I have full confidence that Garrick will lead the department with a dedication to delivering the best possible service to the citizens of Seguin,” he said.

“I am honored and humbled to be joining the men and women of the Seguin Fire Department,” said Chief Herbert. “Seguin has such a positive family culture which is what the fire service has always been about. I look forward to the opportunity to serve the citizens of Seguin,” he said.
