Mayor Don Keil recognizes our 911 operators through proclamation

SEGUIN, Texas – They have to be ready at all times, emergency telecommunication operators link first responders with the people who need them. They have to remain calm, ask the right questions and send the resources to their location within minutes.

Mayor Don Keil spent time with our city/county 911 operators recently to sign a proclamation recognizing April 10th through the 16th as National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week in the City of Seguin.

“I'm very pleased that Mayor Keil took time out of his busy day to recognize the Telecommunicators at the Seguin Police Department. The city is blessed with a great staff of first line responders who truly care about the welfare of their community. This job can be very stressful and mentally challenging and when we receive the kind recognition we got today it invigorates us to keep getting better and better,” said Shannon Dukes, SPD Telecommunications Supervisor.

According to the proclamation, these men and women “are the single vital link for our police officers and firefighters by monitoring their activities by radio, providing them information and insuring their safety.”
