Sgt. Brad Flippin to Lead City's Holiday Stroll Parade

SEGUIN, Texas – Seguin Mayor Donna Dodgen has announced that she has chosen Sergeant Brad Flippin with the Seguin Police Department to lead this year’s 2021 Holiday Stroll Parade.

Sgt. Flippin recently sustained injuries when he was shot in the line of duty while responding to a domestic disturbance call. Two other victims were also shot and injured.

In selecting Sgt. Flippin as this year’s Grand Marshal for the parade, Mayor Dodgen said, "Sergeant Flippin is a hero and the least we can do is honor him and his family during the holiday time. Brad saved lives and he does it every day in the line of duty. We are grateful for the men and women who serve as first responders. Here in Seguin, they work together and as a unit. We are blessed,” she said.

Sgt. Flippin, his wife and children will ride with the Mayor on a horse drawn carriage at the front of the parade.

The parade, which kicks off two nights of downtown holiday fun, begins at 6:30 pm on Thursday, December 2 at the intersection of College and Austin Streets. The Holiday Stroll Parade features entries from local and area businesses & organizations decked out in lights to celebrate the upcoming holidays. The parade proceeds south on Austin Street to Central Park. After the parade, the community is invited to gather in Central Park for the annual tree lighting by Mayor Dodgen. The mayor will also announce the winners of the parade and the Christmas Tree Decorating Contest.

Additional entries are being sought for the Holiday Stroll Parade. Entering the parade is free and deadline to enter is Nov. 19. Entry forms and parade rules can be found on the City’s website at

Parade entries will be judged on lighting, creativity, and holiday spirit. A commemorative sign will be presented to the entries with the top three overall scores in the Commercial and Non-Commercial categories. Christmas trees will be judged on originality, theme and creativity, and a commemorative sign will be given to the top four scoring entries.
