Community Invited to Toast to Texas Event at the Sebastopol House

SEGUIN, Texas – The City of Seguin Parks & Recreation Department invites you to save the date and toast to Texas’s 186th anniversary of its Independence on Wednesday, March 2, 2022.

The annual Toast to Texas ceremony, hosted by The Daughters of the Republic of Texas, the Abishai Mercer Dickson – Seguin Chapter, starts at 1:30 pm on March 2 at the Sebastopol House, located at 704 Zorn Street in Seguin.

The event features local dignitaries and artists, a reading of William B. Travis’s “Victory or Death” letter written at the Alamo, reading of the names of the 59 delegates who signed the Texas Declaration of Independence along with a toast with Texas spring water. The Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Mounted Posse will also be there to deliver a proclamation.

KWED 1580 will also provide a radio broadcast for those who would like to tune in.

The Daughters of the Republic of Texas, founded in 1891, are most notable for saving the Alamo from destruction, being caretakers for over 100 years and making the Alamo one of the most popular historic sites in the United States.
