Teatro De Artes De Juan Seguin Will lead the "Biggest Small-Town 4th of July Parade"

SEGUIN, Texas – The countdown is on for celebrating Independence Day in Seguin! A great lineup of traditional 4th of July activities is scheduled, including Seguin’s Biggest Small-Town 4th of July Parade, Freedom Fiesta, a patriotic concert in the park and Seguin’s biggest fireworks show to date that you won’t want to miss!

Mayor Donna Dodgen is happy to announce that she has chosen students, directors and members of Teatro De Artes De Juan Seguin to serve as this year’s parade grand marshal.  Teatro is celebrating it’s 40th anniversary this year.

“We are very fortunate to have this amazing organization in our community celebrating 40 years of Mexican American cultural education and the arts,” said Mayor Dodgen. “Teatro keeps the Mexican American culture and pride alive in our City in so many ways – through Ballet Folklórico and Mariachi programs, annual Dia de los Muertas events, Noche De Gala Vocal Competition, Humanities Lecture Series and their support of civic, community, business, and education collaboratives to promote the Mexican American and Hispanic arts.  Honoring them as our parade marshal is a fitting way to show our appreciation to Teatro De Artes De Juan Seguin,” said Mayor Dodgen.

Schedule of events

The fun begins on Saturday, July 2nd with Freedom Fiesta hosted by local radio station, KWED 1580.  The celebration is from 6 to 11 pm in downtown Central Park and will include activities for children and adults, live music by Austin-based variety band Jumpstart, more than 10 food trucks, cold beverages and time to interact with the whole community. For more details on Freedom Fiesta, contact KWED at (830) 379-2234.

Join us for a concert in Central Park with the San Antonio Symphonic Band playing a medley of patriotic tunes.  The concert begins at 7 pm on Sunday, July 3.  Bring your lawn chairs and beverages of choice.

Sponsored by H-E-B, Teijin Automotive Technologies and Niagara Bottling, Inc., the night sky will light up with the City’s annual fireworks display on Sunday, July 3 starting at 9:30 p.m.  The best views are from Starcke Park and the surrounding area. This should be the biggest show Seguin has ever seen – so you don’t want to miss it. KWED AM Radio 1580 will play patriotic music on the radio during the show.

On Monday July 4, the day kicks-off with a flag raising ceremony at 9 am in Central Park. Music, speakers, pomp and circumstance will remind attendees of the significance of the day.

Crowds of flag-waving people will line Austin Street for the annual Biggest Small-Town Fourth of July Parade in Texas starting at 10 am on Monday, July 4.

The parade route begins at the intersection of Austin and College Streets and ends at the Seguin Coliseum, with all the entries traveling south along Austin Street.

The City of Seguin asks parade attendees to not block parade route sidewalks with chairs and other items until the morning of the event. To allow for the best parade viewing experience, drivers are asked to not park along the parade route, which includes Austin Street from East Weinert to Nelda Street.
