City & County Teachers of the Year will Lead Holiday Stroll Parade
SEGUIN, Texas – Seguin Mayor Donna Dodgen has announced that she has chosen teachers of the year from campuses across the City of Seguin and in Guadalupe County to lead the 2022 Holiday Stroll Parade.
In selecting the Guadalupe County Teachers of the Year as this year’s Grand Marshal(s) for the parade, Mayor Dodgen said, " Teachers face many challenges today and continue to put our children first, knowing that education changes lives. Teachers made an impact on my life in many ways, and I want all educators to be celebrated. Help me honor our teachers - as you watch our Grand Marshals in the parade, please take a moment of gratitude for the teachers who make daily impacts on our kids.”
The parade, which kicks off two nights of downtown holiday fun, begins at 6:30 pm on Thursday, December 1 at the intersection of College and Austin Streets. The Holiday Stroll Parade features entries from local and area businesses & organizations decked out in lights to celebrate the upcoming holidays.
This is the 30th year of the Holiday Stroll Parade, and the first time there has been a change to the parade route. Due to growth of this event, the parade route has been extended to the Seguin Events Complex, similar to the Biggest Small-Town Fourth of July Parade.
Spectators: Please find your favorite viewing spot on Austin Street, between College Street and Austin (areas marked in green on the attached parade route map).
Parade Participants: Staging areas are on College Street. At the conclusion of the parade, plan to disband your parade entry at the large Seguin Events Complex parking lot. You can utilize the Seguin Events Complex parking lot as a meeting location for participant pickup at the conclusion of the parade.
Please, no parking anywhere on Austin Street after 5 pm on the day of the parade.
After the parade, the community is invited to gather in Central Park for the annual tree lighting by Mayor Dodgen. The mayor will also announce the winners of the parade and the Christmas Tree Decorating Contest.
Additional entries are being sought for the Holiday Stroll Parade. Entry forms and parade rules can be found on the City’s website at seguintexas.gov/holidaystroll
Parade entries will be judged on lighting, creativity, and holiday spirit. A commemorative sign will be presented to the entries with the top three overall scores in the Commercial and Non-Commercial categories. Christmas trees will be judged on originality, theme and creativity, and a commemorative sign will be given to the top four scoring entries.
